2016 Charity Match Roundup & Results

 Monday 15 August 2016 - 15:32:30 | Dave

Well this year’s event proved to be the biggest and most successful of them all. With over 40 competitors taking part and brilliant weather over the whole weekend. A great time was had by all, and lots of money was raised for Chris Paffett.

It was fantastic to see so many taking part, and many for the first time, some even fishing Lakeside for the first time and realising what a great fishery it has become. But it was equally great to see so many of my regulars who have supported me in the Charity match year after year, which we have now raised thousands of pounds.

The fishing was patchy in some areas, but it was great to see many different methods and baits being used to finally outwit a few of the carp.

Charity Match Reminder

 Sunday 31 July 2016 - 10:30:18 | Dave

24hr Carp Charity Social Match at Lakeside, August 13th/14th

Hi all, not long now until the above event takes place. This will be the fifth 24hr Carp Charity match and it appears to be going from strength to strength. Each year the match grows in size and popularity, and this year we may have over 35 competitors and numerous helpers to assist in the weighing and the day-to-day running of the match.

I thank each and every one of you for supporting this event, as it’s so important that we raise money for the chosen charities and helping those worse off than ourselves. Indeed, many of the competitors have supported every match, and each year come back to do it again. Please remember that you do not have to stay the whole period of the match, and many pop home and come back in the morning. The aim of this event is for members to get to know each other and hopefully learn from each other, whilst raising money for a good cause. Emphasis is on the social side rather than the match.

I am also running the raffle where we have some terrific prizes ranging from fishing tackle, bait, helicopter rides, meals and wine etc. May I take this opportunity to thank all the kind people and businesses that donated a prize; I cannot thank you all enough.

Tickets are only £1 each and available from myself on 07899930611. Tickets will also be on sell throughout the match. ALL the money goes to this year’s chosen charity, which is long -standing bailiff and club member, Chris Paffett, who sadly was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The draw will take place after the match on Sunday 14th August at around 4pm.

I will be running a free barbecue at around 2pm on Saturday 13th August, which will be on the decking area just past the main car park, where we will carry out the draw. Please make it known at this time if you want to fish with a friend or friends and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

Please feel free to pop along and buy a ticket or just watch some decent anglers pit their wits against the carp. There will hopefully be a kettle on the go somewhere so you can join us for a cuppa.

There will be a work party next Sunday morning at around 9am where we will be preparing the lake for the match. Please feel free to pop along and help in any way. If you have a strimmer or pruners etc, please bring them along with you. I would advise gloves too, oh and a cup.
I will finish by thanking all members who are taking place, especially those who support this event each and every year, some not being a ‘carp angler’ and doing the night is considered as weird and different from their normal way of fishing.

Also a massive thank you to those people who have donated prizes for the raffle. You are very kind and I couldn’t do it without you all.

Hopefully I’ll see you all there at sometime.

Roy Adams (PDAS Hon Sec)

Lakeside Update 12th July 2016

 Thursday 14 July 2016 - 20:11:22 | Dave

We are pleased to announce that after some reconsideration, the Lakeside Management has agreed to the following: -

1, No cars to be parked by the lake after 1800hrs on Sunday’s, Monday's, Tuesday's, Wednesday's, Thursday's, or Friday's. Ideally off of the water at 17.45 to allow to events.

2, Night fishing with vehicles is approved for Saturday nights only and from 1800hrs onwards - Please be aware that this is subject to change if events conflict. If you want to night fish outside of this rule, then your vehicle must be parked in any of the main car parks close to lake access or visitor areas (this does not include the 1st car park which we used for access to the lake or any other barrier operated car parks).

3, Disabled and OAP's access only approved Sunday through to Friday No Saturday access or overnight Friday night fishing (Disabled and OAP's users to be registered with lakeside security). PDAS have supplied a list of members (Over 60 years of age & Disabled) to assist with this.

4, No more than 6 vehicles allowed on the path at any one time excluding approved events - Please ensure that you stick to this rule, if you see more than 6 vehicles on the lake you need to leave and park in the designated parking areas off of the water.

5, Annual charity event has special permission for the duration of the event. The PDAS is to provide marshals to manage vehicle access during such events at all times to avoid any conflict with other lakeside events.

6, The van rule still stands. Nothing larger than a car derived van on site unless via prior agreement (work party’s / fishery events etc.)

7, And finally and most importantly - If the site rules are breached without prior approval the landlord will operate a one strike out policy to prevent any recurring issues. Our Committee have worked hard to reinstate access for members and now it's down to you to help us by sticking to the rules set out and reporting any issues arising to the Fisheries Team / Bailiffs. Please remember not to look at this in a negative light, we are lucky to have access to the lake and want to keep it this way. There are not many other waters where we are privileged to get so close with our vehicles, so respect the rules set out.
